Job description
The Audio Visual & Lighting Technician is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio, video, and lighting systems for events, productions, and studio activities. This role requires technical expertise, precision, and the ability to adapt to different environments and requirements. The technician will work closely with producers, performers, and other technical staff to ensure seamless execution of visual and sound components that meet high-quality standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Setup & Operation: Install, configure, and operate AV and lighting equipment for live events, recordings, and studio sessions.
Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine checks, maintenance, and repairs on AV and lighting systems to ensure optimal performance.
Lighting Design Execution: Set up lighting according to creative briefs and ensure correct lighting cues during production.
Audio & Visual Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues during setup, testing, or live performance.
Collaboration: Work closely with event producers, performers, and technical teams to understand and execute production needs.
Content Support: Assist in recording and playback of video or audio content when required.
Inventory & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment use, faults, and repairs; manage stock levels.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure safe installation and operation of all AV and lighting systems according to safety guidelines.
Education & Training
Diploma or certification in Audio Visual Technology, Lighting Design, or related technical field.
+ 3 years of experience in a similar AV/lighting technician role.
Knowledge & Experience
Audio, video, and lighting systems.
Lighting control protocols (e.g., DMX).
Sound mixing and signal flow.
AV troubleshooting techniques.
Event and stage setup procedures.
Safety standards and equipment handling.
Live production and studio workflows.
Skills & Abilities
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of AV systems, lighting consoles, and cabling.
Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly under pressure.
Communication: Clear communication skills to collaborate with production and creative teams.
Attention to Detail: Ensure quality and consistency in audio-visual output.
Flexibility: Adapt to last-minute changes and fast-paced environments.
Physical Stamina: Capable of lifting heavy equipment and working long hours on-site.
Teamwork: Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team across various departments.
